Approach

Practical work, clearly explained.

The aim is not to produce the largest possible list of findings. It is to establish what is genuinely exposed, why it matters and which actions will reduce risk.

01

Understand the organisation

The work begins with the organisation, its systems and the decisions it needs to make. Scope and testing are shaped around the real operating environment rather than a standard checklist.

02

Test carefully

Testing is controlled, proportionate and agreed in advance. Work is stopped where further activity could create unnecessary operational risk. Where appropriate, the methodology is informed by recognised guidance including NCSC, NIST, CIS, OWASP and relevant Microsoft security guidance.

03

Validate the evidence

Automated tools can identify possible weaknesses, but findings are manually reviewed wherever possible. This reduces false positives and produces a clearer view of actual exposure.

04

Focus on practical risk

A technical weakness matters most when it forms part of a realistic route to compromise. Reports explain the issue, the likely impact and the actions that will reduce risk.

05

Communicate clearly

Findings are written for technical teams and decision-makers. Recommendations are prioritised so the organisation can address the most important issues first.

Controlled testing

Good security work should not create unnecessary risk.

Testing boundaries, escalation routes and operational constraints are agreed before work begins. Evidence is handled carefully, sensitive details are restricted and disruptive activity is avoided unless it has been explicitly approved.

Deliverables

Useful to the people who need to act.

Executive view

Material risk and the decisions required, without unnecessary technical detail.

Technical evidence

Clear findings, affected assets, supporting evidence and remediation steps.

Priorities

A practical order of work based on exposure, impact and attack-path reduction.

Discussion
